Grandparents Morton and I took Moses on his first fishing trip at the end of August. Thanks to Grandpa Morton's sweet connections we were able to visit an overstocked pond with lots of hungry bass and bluegill.
Moses has his newly purchased fishing pole and is ready to go. Grandpa Morton actually bought him one shortly after he was born, but thought that it might be too long for him just yet. We did find this red "cars" themed pole on the clearance rack. It was just the right size, and Moses was a big fan of the cars theme.
Grandpa leads our young hero down to the water's edge.
Almost there...
And we're fishing! (actually later we found that you could fish just as easily from the top of the dam as you could from the bottom, with much better footing. Oh well, live and learn.
It didn't take long for Moses to catch his first fish - a large mouth bass! - of which he wanted no part!

I'd like to see grandma's version of this picture.
Speaking of grandma, she's no slouch when it comes to fishing either! But what about grandpa? What are his fishing skills like?
That's a keeper!
Here's another keeper - just biding his time, though we didn't usually have to wait long.
"Why aren't there any pictures of you fishing dad?" It's hard to fish and photo at the same time, but I got my share of fishing in - believe it or not.
Moses works on his casting - he's a natural! (I have videos of this loaded on facebook)
"Yes, I can even fish in sepia."
Grandpa lends a hand. \
Moses really likes to reel. I have pretty much given up on xanga and being able to load videos (I'm not as tenacious as my wife when there are working alternatives), so you can see the fishing videos on facebook. |
